Sorry bout that!

Sorry about the strange bit of theme changes over the last hour, but I have been mucking around trying out some seasonal themes for next Christmas.

Things are back to normal (sort of) and new posts will be coming in the next couple of days.

Coming soon to the blog in early March.

Last month, I posted “Baa Baa Black Sheep” (which I considered to be the worst recording ever put together)

About 6 months after this single was released, someone used the same idea to put together an LP of Beatles songs “Sung” by dogs.

the above image is (part) of the cover art from the LP “Beatle Barkers” of which I’ll post more of next month.

also coming will be part two of my one shot record labels (including labels which remained the same all through it’s life) as well as part two of my Festival Records gallery

But shortly, I will be posting another TV show soundtrack LP.

BAD RECORD LABEL DESIGNS

In an attempt to make their labels distinctive, record companies design record labels that are usually eye-catching, usually at the expense of the labels legibility.

In the coming weeks, I will be posting my first “Off the Record” poll on which is the most hard to read record label.

TRADEMARK OBLITERATION

Throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s in Australia we had a number of U.S. releases imported here, but because of trademark reasons, the trademarks would have to be removed before they could be released (because a rival record label owned the name)

this confusing tale will be cleared up in a future post.

RECORD LABEL GALLERIES

I will be digging into my archives to bring you an occasional gallery of a record companies label as they looked over the years.

all this will be posted in the coming weeks.

Update: 21/12/2009

due to the fact that I have been busy these last couple of weeks, I have now decided to post these in the new year.

But fear not.  i have a Christmas posting coming this Friday. so stay tuned.

It’s not just Foxtel and Austrar that is launching it’s new TV channels today.

the new and improved Audio Fidelity Database comes online today.

The website has now had it’s layout re-conformed to the rest of my website (no more frames, Yay!) , and has had additional pages (which had been submitted to me while I was in transit, but was unable to be added until now.)

Actually, if you were online between 4 PM and 5 PM yesterday, you would have got a preview of the site, as I was fixing a few bugs before I made the site officially “live”

After 5PM, I had changed the index page back to the “pre-launch” page once I completed my bugfix, but now the site is now officially live.

the layout for the new site

the layout for the new site

Sorry about the lack of posts, but I have been in the middle of updating my website (in this case, the Audio Fidelity Database.)

The image that appears above is the final layout for this section of my site and I should have this subsite completed by the middle of October (this is the reason I have been neglecting this site for the last week or so.)

when I upload the new site, there will be additional pages, a few new photos and an assortment of other bits and pieces.

Once this is finished, I will then get this site up into full swing by the end of October.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Just letting everyone know that I have finally full access to my library after more than two years on the move.

In the next couple of days, I will be making my first official post to the “Off The Record” blog! :)

so stay tuned!

Happy New Year

While I’m waiting to unpack my record archive, I hope everyone had an excellent Christmas, and on behalf of myself and my family, I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.

This is a simple placeholder to let you know that the Off The Record blog will officially open again in September 2009

And what is this blog all about?

I will be highlighting some of the rare and unusual record (remember them?) releases from my huge library.

As soon as I’m able to access my record library from storage, I’ll get things started up again (hopefully by years end)

In the following posts, I will list a short description of each category to get things going prior to the official relaunch.
