Yep, I’m posting a hit song that originally was from “The Groovie Goolies”

Category: Pop/Misc
Entered the Australian singles Chart 31/5/71, Highest Position: 10, weeks in chart: 19

Side 1
Chick-A-Boom (Don’t Ya Jes’ Love It)
Side 2
John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith
This was the chart-topping single from Filmation’s Groovie Goolies.
This was the second big hit that the studio’s song composers and producers had (the first one was the Archies chart topper “Sugar Sugar” (under the direction of Don Kirshner)
This song (Chick-A-Boom (Don’t Ya Jus’ Love It)) was under the direction of Goolies song producer Dick Monda (who appeared under the moniker “Daddy Dewdrop”)
It would be Filmation’s final chart topping hit. Executive Producers Norm Prescott and Lou Scheimer would try again with the Paramount Records release “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids” (of which I profiled last year here.)

Here is a collection of Abba songs performed by a cover group.

A single from left field
Hot on the success of the revival of The Chipmunks, Ross Bagdasarian Jr., had Simon, Theodore and Alvin sing a collection of major Rock hits.
In this case, it was Carly Simon’s Bette Davis Eyes and Heartbreaker (I do not know who was the original performer. E-mail me to help me identify the performer.)
This was the single from the LP Chipmunk Rock
Single title: Bette Davis Eyes b/w Heartbreaker
Performed by the Chipmunks (Alvin, Simon and Theodore)
Label: RCA
Catalogue Number 104012
Produced by Janice Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr.
Category: Rock/Childrens
This is the first time that the Chipmunks had released a single from an LP since the 1960′s (if there were others, let me know)
My copy was a little bit different as someone at RCA had blundered
The label on side 1 was only a blank (with no production info at all, I ended up writing on the label. Side 2 had all the record info
the stuff that was blanked out on the bottom half had my old address in inner Sydney, and was removed to protect the innocent.
If memory serves me right, all the copies they had at the store I bought this had the same “deficiency” which was a rarity.
Here now, is the LP that was inspired by the Virgin Records release, Baa-Baa Black Sheep

What could be sillier than a group of singing sheep? Telmak gave us the answer in this Barking Mad volume of Beatles songs ‘sung’ by dogs.
TBH, I have only heard the first three tracks on this LP, and have not played this since.
Mercifully, this was the final record of this type ever attempted.
Now here’s something unusual, a commercial release of a radio station’s jingle

Title: Dr. Dan’s Theme/1990
performed by Dieter Kleeman
Record Label: Festival/Mushroom
Catalogue Number K 10235
Produced by Montana Productions
Executive Producer: Hamish Cameron
Engineered by Al Wright
Recorded by Mark Bergin
Photography by Craig Watkins and Jim Walpole
Jacket Design: Laurie McIntyre
Recorded at Pro Image Post, Sydney
For many years, the Dr. Dan theme was regularly used as a jingle for the Triple M radio network.
such was the popularity of the jingle, listeners wanted to know if it would be released as a single.
the station obliged and was released as a single (both as a 45 RPM single and a CD single. for some reason I never bought the CD Single, but ended up buying the 45)
If memory serves me correctly, the proceeds for this single went to charity.
