As promised, I am posting today the (almost complete) label gallery for Australia’s Mushroom Records.
The reason the gallery is almost complete is because I do not have the companies first label (around 1972)
The first label I do have, was used by Mushroom from the mid 1970′s until 1979

by the early 1980′s the logo was changed to it’s more familiar design (this logo was used from 1980 until 1993) (which is of course beyond the scope of this blog)
On all of Mushroom’s singles, there was an “Australian Recording” bug at the bottom of the label. (this appared on all Mushroom releases until around 1989)

Yep, that’s Red Symons’ second solo single “Sex Appeal”
for the final vinyl releases the aforementioned “Australian Recording” bug did not appear on Mushroom’s final vinyl releases (up until late 1991)

We are getting close to the end of the month, so today I’m posting a (proposed) coming soon, so this may change by the time July comes around next week.
VINTAGE GOON SHOW CLASSICS LP ARTWORK
Over the next month (and August) I will be posting the cover art for all eleven “Goon Show Classics” LPs that the BBC released (it won’t be a daily thing like the 12 discs this month was) (the cover above is from Volume 4)
The volumes will not appear in Chronological order, but I promise all eleven volumes will appear
Also planned will be the labels gallery for Mushroom Records (well at least the records I have. The only label I do not have is Mushrooms’ very first label)
Now here’s something unusual, a commercial release of a radio station’s jingle

Title: Dr. Dan’s Theme/1990
performed by Dieter Kleeman
Record Label: Festival/Mushroom
Catalogue Number K 10235
Produced by Montana Productions
Executive Producer: Hamish Cameron
Engineered by Al Wright
Recorded by Mark Bergin
Photography by Craig Watkins and Jim Walpole
Jacket Design: Laurie McIntyre
Recorded at Pro Image Post, Sydney
For many years, the Dr. Dan theme was regularly used as a jingle for the Triple M radio network.
such was the popularity of the jingle, listeners wanted to know if it would be released as a single.
the station obliged and was released as a single (both as a 45 RPM single and a CD single. for some reason I never bought the CD Single, but ended up buying the 45)
If memory serves me correctly, the proceeds for this single went to charity.
